The 33.3% Himachal Special Rule in General Studies

Consequently, exactly one-third (66.6 marks per paper, totaling 200 marks across GS I–III) is determined by state-specific mastery.
- GS-I (Unit 3 - Himachal Component): Historical evolution of Princely States (Kangra, Bushahr, Mandi, Chamba, Suket); Praja Mandal movements and integration into Himachal Pradesh; Dhami firing incident; folk art, temple architecture (Pagoda, Pent-roof, Shikhar styles), fairs, festivals, tribal communities (Gaddis, Gujjars, Kinnauras, Lahaulas, Pangwalas); and geographical terrain, river drainage (Ravi, Beas, Chenab, Sutlej, Yamuna), glaciers, and seismic vulnerabilities.
- GS-II (Unit 3 - Himachal Component): Administrative setup of Himachal Pradesh, Governor's role, State Legislature, HP High Court & Subordinate Judiciary; 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendments implementation in HP; Right to Information (RTI) and HP Public Services Guarantee Act; non-governmental organizations and self-help groups; and welfare schemes for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and women in the state.
- GS-III (Unit 3 - Himachal Component): Economic Survey and Annual Budget of HP; agricultural and horticultural diversification (Apple economy, Off-season vegetables); Hydro-power policy and environmental impact; Industrial development in Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) zone; eco-tourism, religious circuits, and adventure tourism; tribal development programs (Single-Line Administration); and Himalayan climate change mitigation.

- Mains Answer Script Medium: Candidates have the option to answer General Studies Papers and Essay in either Hindi (Devanagari script) or English. Mixed language usage within a single paper is strictly disallowed.
